‘LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL …’, is a Workshop/Dinner/Dance held each Fall in Toronto. The initial idea was to have a non-intimidating event that would allow newer dancers and those who didn’t attend larger events to “try an event out”! To our delight the Event proved to be a success with both newer less confident dancers and intermediate dancers attending and fourteen years later we still sell out.
INSTRUCTORS: We invite local instructors to teach alongside Fred and myself (Vivienne Scott) but we have also had international guest instructors from time to time … Rosie Multari, Larry Bass and Michele Perron.
FORMAT: Doors open at 11 a.m. and teaching starts at 12. The instruction starts with Beginner dances, moving up to Improver, ending with Intermediate, then we have a ‘Blast From The Past’ which everyone enjoys. We have open dancing in between the teaching to give brains a rest! You can choose to register for the full day including the meal or just for the afternoon workshop or evening dance if space is available.
MEAL: At 5:30 a 3-course meal is served. This year 2017 we will having a recommended outside cater preparing our meal. By all account it should be good! This is a fun, social part of the day.
OPEN DANCE/EVENING DANCE: We prepare a list of dances that will be played at the Event and post it to this site and our facebook page ahead of the Event date so that dancers can review the dances if they would like to. Fred is our DJ and tries to ensure that every dancer gets an opportunity to hit the floor.
FUND RAISING: We have a 50/50 and a ‘Gift Basket Auction’ for different charities every year. Dale makes beautiful baskets and this fund-raising is very popular.
We would like to thank all those dancers who have joined us on the dance floor for the last fourteen years as well as our talented guest instructors.
